  Familiarly known as "Doc" because of his proficiency as a veterinary, was also a successful wagon maker and blacksmith, maintining a shop on his farm near Oxford until advanced age forced him to retire. Both Martha and Cyrus are buried at Oxford, Wisconsin. They were members of the Methodist church; he was a Knight Templar.
